Lancercombe Farm, Sidmouth, Devon

We're getting married!

The main event will be on Saturday, 6th June, 2026 (that's 6/6 for the Americans and 6/6 for the Europeans πŸ˜‰). We anticipate a ceremony start time in the mid-late afternoon with a reception to follow.

Our venue is Tom's family home, Lancercombe Farm. The farm is located in the South West of England in the county of Devon - sandwiched between the countryside town of Ottery St. Mary to the north and the coastal town of Sidmouth to the south.

For our guests travelling from near and far, we'll try to provide as much information as possible here about travel and accomodation.

We're also very happy to answer any questions (please 'bother' us!). If we can help remove any barriers to your attendance we would be delighted to do so - but we also know it may not be possible to cross an ocean (or two!) to join us β™₯️

FAQ

When is the RSVP deadline?

We're happy to hear from folks whenever you know your plan - whether that's now or later is okay by us!

Are kids welcome?

Of course!

What will the weather be like?

The weather in England can be pretty unpredictable. We're hoping for sun but planning for rain!

Where should I park?

Parking will be available in one of the fields at the farm β€” as long as the fields aren't flooded! If you plan on enjoying a drink or two (and we hope you do), we recommend booking a taxi or signing up for one of our coaches. See the Transport section for taxi numbers and coach sign-up details.

What should I wear?

Our dress code is "Farm Chic, Wellies Optional" β€” think your favo(u)rite semi-formal outfit, with bonus points for American Western or British Country flair. It's not a costume party β€” we just want y'all to have fun with the outfits you'll feel best in, and sensible shoes are always a good idea given the farm setting! Our wedding colours are lots of shades of pinks and greens.

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and reception will be in the stable yard and surrounding barns. In the event of rain there should always be a "roof" overhead but a light jacket may be needed if the weather really flops.

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Most of the day will be on level, hard surfaces or gravel - but your parking location, desire to wander about, and the weather may necessitate mud-friendly shoes.

Are you guys registering for gifts?

No, we don't plan to have a gift registry. We know that many of you will be traveling long distances - and whether you're joining us from near or far, we mean it when we say that your presence is a present. You're welcome to bring a gift (or contribute to a honeymoon fund, UK/US bank details TBA) but please feel no obligation to do so.

πŸš• Prefer to Make Your Own Way?

No problem at all! There will be parking onsite (as long as the fields aren't flooded) if you'll be arriving and departing sober. Otherwise, we'd recommend booking a local taxi well in advance as Devon gets busy in June.

THINGS WE RECOMMEND

If you're spending some extra time in Devon, here are some of our favourite things to see and do in the area.

Places to Visit

The Donkey Sanctuary

A wonderful sanctuary home to hundreds of donkeys, set along the Jurassic Coast near Sidmouth. Free entry, open daily 9am–5pm. Beautiful gardens, scenic walking trails, and a lovely cafe. Great for families!

Exeter

One of England's most vibrant and historically interesting cities — featuring a magnificent cathedral, Roman history, independent shops and restaurants. About 30 minutes from Sidmouth.

Dartmoor National Park

Dramatic moorland, wild ponies, ancient tors, and stunning hiking — about an hour from Sidmouth. Well worth a day trip if you love the outdoors.

Walks

The Donkey Sanctuary Walk

A lovely 2.7 mile (4.3 km) circular walk starting from The Donkey Sanctuary Car Park (EX10 0NU). Moderate difficulty with tracks, footpaths, a shingle beach, and quiet country roads. Walk down through a woodland valley to a shingle beach with gold and yellow cliffs, then back through fields and a beautiful memorial lane. An ideal walk for children!

Peak Hill — Sidmouth

A short, level walk over well-trimmed grassland just west of Sidmouth with exceptional views over the Jurassic Coast towards the Exe estuary, Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torbay. Especially lovely in autumn when the heath is bright with heather and gorse.

Fire Beacon Hill — Near Sidmouth

A local nature reserve on rare lowland heath, historically one of the beacons used to warn of the approaching Spanish Armada. Look out for Dartford warblers, nightjars, and Exmoor ponies. Panoramic views across Lyme Bay on clear days. Paths can be uneven and muddy — good shoes recommended.

Haytor Vale & Hound Tor Circular — Dartmoor

A 4.6 mile (7.4 km) moderate circular hike on Dartmoor taking about 2.5–3 hours. Features stunning moorland views, the iconic Hound Tor, and the ruins of the medieval village of Hundatora, abandoned around 1350. About an hour's drive from Sidmouth.

British Essentials

The Meal Deal

Toby insists this be on here. The meal deal is a cornerstone of British culture that she has fully embraced since moving to the UK. For around £3–5 at any supermarket or high-street shop, you get a main (sandwich, wrap, or pasta), a snack, and a drink. It's the best deal in Britain and perfect fuel for picnics, road trips, or a quick lunch between walks. Your meal deal order says a lot about you — choose wisely.

Restaurants & Pubs

The Marine — Sidmouth

A dynamic coastal pub on the esplanade with beach-facing terrace views. Great pizza, seafood, and locally sourced food.

Dukes — Sidmouth

A modern seaside inn on the esplanade with award-winning food. Hearty traditional dishes, fresh seafood, and outdoor patio dining with sea views.

The Loft — Sidmouth

Family-run restaurant in the heart of Sidmouth's high street. Lovely Italian-style food — seafood, pizza, sharing boards, and tapas on Friday evenings. Family and dog friendly.

THE PIG — at Combe — Honiton

A beautiful kitchen garden restaurant in an Elizabethan manor in the Otter Valley. Seasonal, zero-mile produce from their three walled gardens, fresh local fish, and Devonshire cheeses.

The Golden Lion — Tipton St John

A lovely family-run pub in Tipton St John serving seasonal gastro-pub fare with locally sourced ingredients. Great steaks, pies, fresh seafood, and weekly specials.
